The gurgling rivers, quaint villages, and spectacular trails make North Sikkim a perfect getaway for all types of tourists.

Starting with the famous monasteries in the north of Sikkim, peace seekers can find solace in places like Phensang Monastery. Situated on gentle slopes spreading from Kabi to Phodong, this Buddhist monastery of the Niyam order is surrounded by exquisite landscapes, creating a soulful and peaceful ambiance. Phodong Monastery, belonging to the Karma Kagyu sect of Tibetan Buddhism, is another significant monastery and one of the six most important Buddhist monasteries in Sikkim.

A holy lake carrying immense religious significance, Gurudongmar Lake, is located in Lachen, a small but breathtaking town in the North of Sikkim at an elevation of 10,000 ft. It offers a perfect vantage point to admire Mount Siniolchu and Kangchenjunga, surrounded by icy mountains and crystal-clear water. Nearby, you'll find the beautiful village of Thangu, a perfect holiday destination to immerse yourself in nature's embrace. Sikkim warmly welcomes nature lovers through its broad gate. Tourists often choose to stay in Thangu village for a night or two before continuing their journey to Gurudongmar Lake. During winters, the village transforms into a colorful display, with vibrant alpine flowers and snow adorning its landscape. The magnificent trekking trails from this village to Chopta Valley and Muguthang add to its charm.

Yumthang Valley, popularly known as the 'Valley of Flowers,' is yet another enchanting retreat for nature lovers seeking peace. Its cosmic green meadows and unique wildflowers, such as primulas and rhododendrons, paint the valley in rich colors, offering an enigmatic bliss. Lachen, a serene hill station in the northern district of Sikkim, is famous for Lachung Monastery, attracting Buddhist pilgrims. North Sikkim is adorned with other serene and beautiful towns and villages like Lachung, Mangan, and Singhik, surrounded by majestic snow-covered mountains, gushing waterfalls, sparkling streams, and much more, enticing tourists to explore them.

The peaks located in the northern region of Sikkim provide great opportunities for trekkers and adventure seekers. Famous treks like Tosar Lake Trek and Green Lake Trek await those who seek thrilling experiences.
